Mapping Network Drives

Students can store files on our servers in two different locations, your Home drive and your Web drive.

Your Home drive is a good place to put important class work, like Word documents. There are two major advantages to using your Home drive, you can access the files from any connected computer on campus and the files are backed up nightly.

Any files put in your Web drive will show up on the World Wide Web at http://people.cornellcollege.edu/username.

It is also recommended that you map the Assignments drive.  This is where faculty members can store information and assignments for class.

These are the instructions for connecting your Home Drive:

  1. Click Go
  2. Click Connect To Server...
  3. In the Server Address text box type:  smb://filesrv1/student_home/username
    • Substitute your Cornell user name for username
  4. You may click the + button to have this folder stored for later use
