Student Affairs Assistant
The Cornell College Division of Student Affairs has a full-time, 10 or 12 month, Student Affairs Assistant opening. The Student Affairs Assistant manages the daily operations of the Office of Student Affairs including communication, administrative, and data management responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages daily and periodic communications including front desk coverage, telephone, web portals and pages, newsletters and other mailings.
- Receives and facilitates early warning reports.
- Processes incident reports and organizes communication with students engaged in the student conduct system.
- Prepares, edits and manages online publications including the office/division web page, student handbook, parent gateway and newsletters, and other office publications.
- Schedules meetings and appointments and maintains calendars for the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Dean of Students.
- Coordinates details and assists with events including New Student Convocation, Validation, Baccalaureate and Commencement.
- Maintains database of information related to student conduct and the early warning system, including data entry, compiling reports and database management.
- Organizes budget reports for all departments. Reconciles charges to Student Affairs accounts and credit card from various offices and student organizations. Maintains the budget for the office and inventory of office supplies.
- Maintains student withdrawal information and statistics for use by the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
- Works with the Director of Campus Safety in accurately documenting incidents, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
- Assists the Chaplain with event logistics and editing correspondence and publication content.
- Maintains student files; coordinates student conduct records and prepares semester and annual student conduct reports.
- Prepares compliance reports to meet church, state and federal requirements and requests, such as the annual campus crime report; obtains information from other campus offices and non-campus entities (i.e. Mount Vernon Police Department) to complete these reports.
- Coordinates staff search activities (such as interview schedules, candidate travel and lodging) for any position open in the division.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with three to five years of related experience required.
Specific work hours will fluctuate in a planned fashion. Weekend work required a few times per year. Background check will be required of the selected candidate.
