Maintenance Worker - Building Maintenance Technician

The Building Maintenance Technician will have a high school diploma and 8+ years of service/installation/designing /estimating experience with all types of HVAC,  plumbing and electrical systems in a commercial and higher educational environment.   The candidate should possess strong working knowledge of other building systems, including but not limited to cooling towers, centrifugal chillers, roof top units, automated controls, VFD’s, refrigeration, boilers, gas piping, kitchen exhaust duct and fire prevention systems.  The ideal candidate will have innovative diagnostic and repair skills with an advanced understanding of schematics.   Candidate must have the ability to obtain a comprehensive understanding of several building automation systems, through training provided by the college.

This position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills and hands on approach. The candidate will interact with students, faculty, and administration on a daily basis where problem solving and attention to campus needs are critical to our success. Self-motivated, strong work ethic with the ability to plan and to complete task on time with-out immediate supervision.  On-call rotation with other staff throughout the year will be required.

Skills/Qualifications:

Position will requires a valid driver’s license and background check.  Must have the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.  Technical training in HVAC design and CFC certification preferred.  Candidate will possess superior computer and strong math with a high proficiency in interpreting blueprints.  Ability to maintain building environment by installing, repairing, and servicing all HVAC and building automation systems.  Provide, maintain and develop preventive maintenance schedules for all HVAC, and associated components.
