Cornell College offers Fine Arts Scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $5,000. Fine Arts Scholarships are awarded in addition to any merit scholarships you may receive, increasing your total assistance package.
We encourage all students who have a strong interest in Art, Music, Theatre, or Dance to apply for Fine Arts Scholarships. Talk to your Admission counselor about what makes a good candidate.
To be considered for Art, Music, or Theatre scholarships, you must complete the following steps:
- Complete our Fine Arts Scholarship Application.
- Complete an audition, interview, or submission of your work by March 1. On-campus appointments must be scheduled two weeks in advance. Requirements vary by your interest area: Visual Arts, Music or Theatre and Dance.
Decisions and notification
Notifications about Fine Arts Scholarships are made as soon as your fine arts materials have been reviewed. We encourage you to complete the process listed above as early as possible, keeping our March 1 deadline in mind.
Fine Arts Scholarships are renewable annually if you make satisfactory academic progress with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. Please be sure to read the specific eligibility and participation requirements for renewal of the Fine Arts scholarships as listed below.

Visual Art Scholarships
Cornell College Visual Art Scholarships: $1,000 - $5,000
Eligibility: Students earning a Cornell College Visual Art Scholarship are not required to participate in the department's courses or activities, although many recipients take courses or remain involved in Art & Art History Department activities. Visual Art Scholarships are available to qualified students, regardless of major.
Cornell College Music Scholarships: $1,000 - $5,000
Eligibility: Students earning a Cornell College Music Scholarship are required to participate in at least one major ensemble on the student's principal instrument. Music Scholarships are available to qualified students, regardless of major.
$3,000 and $5,000 Level
Eligibility: In addition to the requirement of participation in at least one major ensemble on the student's principal instrument, students awarded scholarships at the $3000 or $5000 level must enroll in music lessons* on the student's principal instrument, and enroll in the MUS 701 Music Performance Seminar. *Recipients are awarded music lessons at a value of $350 per semester in addition to their scholarship.
Theatre and Dance Scholarships
Cornell College Theatre Scholarships: $1,000 - $5,000
Eligibility: Students earning a Cornell College Theatre Scholarship are required to attend the theatre block meetings, that happen once a month, as well as successfully complete one course in the Department of Theatre per academic year. Lastly students must participate in one mainstage production each year in a position that requires a minimum of 30 hours of participation. Theatre Scholarships are available to qualified students, regardless of major.
Cornell College Dance Scholarships: $1,000 - $5,000
Eligibility: Students earning a Cornell College Dance Scholarship are required to participate in one dance course per academic year. Students must also participate in one main stage production or one movement based adjunct course per academic year. Should the student fulfill this requirement by means of participation in a production, the intent is that the production should be movement intensive (ie. a musical, cabaret, or dance recital).
