Rood House was built in 1883 as the residence of Colonel Henry H. Rood, a Civil War veteran, local merchant, member of Cornell's Board of Trustees, and treasurer of the college.  His house was presented by the Class of 1894 and opened as a dormitory in 1919 and served as a residence hall for most of the past 125 years.  With the addition of New Hall and Clock Tower HAll, Rood House was permanently closed as a residence hall in January 2009.  Although it was cost-prohibitive to bring it up to code for residential space, it made sense to retrofit Rood for office space.  In July 2009, the Rood House transformation to become the Paul K. Scott Alumni Center was complete.  Join us for a guided tour of this beautiful historic building.
