Extraordinary Opportunities
Around the World
At Cornell, learning goes beyond the classroom—far beyond. With our One-Course-At-A-Time academic structure, many courses leave campus for a few days, an entire block, or even longer. Just as importantly, classes have the flexibility to take day trips that supplement their work in class.
For example:
- Biology classes spend frequent outdoor time, whether on day trips to nearby parks or month-long adventures to the Bahamas or the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
- A religion class takes students to Tibet, where they learn about the region’s religions through conversations with local residents, visits to prominent monasteries and temples, and more.
- Art classes routinely visit galleries and museums in places like Chicago, Milwaukee, and Des Moines to gain first-hand insights.
- Students in music, history, economics, and English learn solid research skills during block-long courses at Chicago's Newberry Library.
