Marine Science Concentration

All students majoring in Environmental Studies must take the following core courses:
- Physical Geology (GEO 111) or Investigations in Geology (GEO 114)
- Foundations: Organismal Biology (BIO 141)
- Foundations: Cellular Biology (BIO 142)
- Ecology (BIO 321) or an accredited off-campus ecology course
The concentration in Marine Science entails the following:
- Marine Science (GEO 105)
- Paleontology (GEO 217)
- Chemical Principles 1 & II (CHE 121 & 122) or Accelerated General Chemistry (CHE 161)
- Analytical Chemistry (CHE 202) or Organic Chemistry (CHE 225)
- Internship (ENV 390) or accredited summer field course in marine science
- Three electives, two of which must be numbered 300 or above (see the course catalogue for approved elective courses)
Notes:
- Supporting coursework in mathematics and physics is strongly recommended for students interested in pursuing graduate study in marine science.
