Every year, a set of ECB courses is taught off campus—sometimes for a week, sometimes for a whole block. Professor Knoop's and Professor Farooqi’s courses regularly visit Uruguay and Argentina. Professor Savitisky’s Economics of Sports course visits professional sports teams in Dallas. Professors Conrad and Hejeebu take students to downtown Chicago to investigate the city’s financial center and its historic importance in America’s economic growth.

These enriching experiences are more than the usual academic tours; we take our economic toolboxes with us. We gather evidence on how markets and institutions work by talking to traders, exploring business archives, meeting with business executives, and discussing rapid economic growth with the people who live it.  Faculty and students often spend 10-14 hours a day together during off-campus excursions, which makes for unforgettable immersion learning.
