Still Life Drawing (The Vanitas Tradition)

This hands-on drawing workshop began with a brief introduction to the Baroque still life tradition known as the vanitas, one that celebrates earthly pleasures while reminding one of life's brevity.  Participants viewed related student examples created using the same materials offered at the workshop to reinforce suggestions for getting started with practical work.  Over the course of two sessions, participants worked towards completion of a unique still life that reflected visual and conceptual understanding of the vanitas.
