Sleeping With the Enemy, the movie based on the 1987 book by Nancy Price 46, is No. 2 in box office receipts among movies based on novels by women. It has brought in $101.6 million, second only to The First Wives Club with receipts of $105.5 million, according to Knight Ridder Tribune. Distant third on the list is Fried Green Tomatoes with $82.4 million.
Price is on leave as professor of creative writing at the University of Northern Iowa. She lives in Florida and Cedar Falls, where she is at work on her eighth book, a historical novel about the British Navy in the Napoleonic wars. Her most recently published book, Snake in the Blackberries, is about a Cedar Falls orphan during World War II. It has a lot of things my classmates would rememberbandage rolling, blackouts, no men on campus, she says. At this time the book is available only in French.
