Cornell College has a new domain name on the Internet, “cornellcollege.edu,” which will be phased in over two years. During this time the old address, “cornell-iowa.edu,” also will function. This change also affects e-mail addresses, which will change to name@cornellcollege.edu from name@cornell-iowa.edu.
The college is making this change to standardize its identity on the Internet. In all venues except the Web, we are known as Cornell College and the institution has protected that identity, or “brand,” through history. Cornell acquired the “cornell-iowa.edu” domain in 1991 when there was a limit of 12 characters. The “cornellcollege.edu” domain will be more recognizable, intuitive, and friendly to Internet users worldwide.
