10 Clues For Cornellians

Julia Gutz ’88 and other Alumni Board members recently served students dining in The Commons.

1. The friendships and connections you have made here will last for the rest of your lives. Don’t waste them.
2. Get a bumper sticker before you leave campus, advertise that you’re a Cornellian, and they will come out of the woodwork.
3. Look up at King Chapel one last time and etch that sight into your memory. It will be the first thing you look for when you return.
4. Return often. Visits here are extremely cathartic and revitalizing.
5. You now process information quickly and easily move through subjects at a rapid pace. Be prepared: hourlong meetings will bore you.
6. Savor your accomplishments; you have achieved something great.
7. Brace yourselves—you will never, ever have block breaks again, and you will miss them!
8. Orange carpet is not a normal thing in the real world. Do not carpet rooms in your home in orange.
9. The more you put into life and community service, the more you will get back.
10. Take some time to give something back to Cornell. This can be through your time, your talent, or your treasure.
