Albright Fellow in Youth Advocacy
Harriet Tubman Center
Aims of the Fellowship
My main project during this internship will be to facilitate a weekly family focused parenting support group for clients staying at the shelter. This project will require me to work closely with professional Tubman staff members, as each meeting will be co-facilitated with a Tubman staff member. In addition to facilitating these weekly meetings, responsibilities of this project will be to assist with curriculum planning and preparation, which will require background reading on family focused therapy techniques and group facilitation strategies as well drawing on the resources of experienced co-workers to plan weekly meetings. The intended outcomes of this project will be to facilitate smooth and productive support group meetings and to provide additional support and information about available resources to parents at the shelter.
