My fellowship experience:
During this research experience, I learned how to create goals and objectives for research and how to analyze my results. I became more comfortable performing various procedures, and I became more familiar with some typical equipment and supplies. I figured out what research was like, and I discovered that I really do enjoy it. Before this opportunity, I was hoping to go to medical school after college. While that is still true, I’m now considering getting a PhD along with my MD. This experience just really opened my eyes to what research was like.

The overall purpose is for me to gain a sense of what it is like to be a graduate student and to conduct research in a formal lab setting. One of the main goals is that I will be able to perform various methods that will aid in my research with developmental genetic neuroscience in zebrafish.
