Iowa Campus Compact AmeriCorps Program (ICAP)

Americorps LogoIowa Campus Compact is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education.  In partnership with Campus Compact, Cornell College's Civic Engagement Office offers the Iowa Campus Compact AmeriCorps Program (ICAP) to engage students in long-term volunteerism in the greater Cornell community.  During a year of service, ICAP participants complete at least 300 hours of service in a diverse selection of involvement opportunities on campus and in the broader community.  Service hours are completed through direct service, community strengthening, and volunteer recruitment.  The goal of ICAP is to generate long-term partnerships with local organizations, giving students an in-depth look at the work of nonprofit service organizations.

ICAP members may earn a portion of their 300 hours through member development activities.  Facilitated by the Civic Engagement Office, examples of member development include training in topics like organizational leadership, communications, volunteer management, principles of democratic citizenship, and many others.  Upon graduating from the program, students will earn an AmeriCorps Educational Award for their work and dedication.

In previous years, Cornell has hosted five ICAP members.  If you are looking for a way to develop your leadership skills, deepen you public service experience, and make a positive impact in your community, consider applying for the ICAP program!  Please contact Collin Paschall, IACC AmeriCorps VISTA, for more information.
