Who can vote by mail

Any registered voter can vote by mail

1. Get your absentee ballot application

Download and print the absentee ballot application, or request a ballot using the online form

2. Fill out the form

Step 1 · To receive an absentee ballot for the general election on Nov 8, check the box for “general election only”

Step 2 · Provide your name

Step 3 · Provide your birthday, county where you live, phone number, and email address

3. Submit the form

Mail, fax, or email the form to your Circuit or Municipal Clerk’s office so it's received by Nov 7. Apply in time for election officials to mail your ballot and for you to return it on or before Election Day, Nov 8.

4. Vote

  • Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions to fill it out
  • Your ballot must be received by mail or package delivery service at the address on the ballot return envelope no later than 8 PM on Election Day, Nov 8
  • Check the status of your ballot on mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us
