AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year at 21,600 unique sites including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Since the program's founding in 1994, more than 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.4 billion hours in service across America while tackling pressing problems and mobilizing more than 2.3 million volunteers for the organizations they serve.
Program Offers: Living allowance, health insurance, educational reward, graduate scholarships, professional connections, and relocation assistance (depending on the site).
Each program and each site has its own deadline.
Types of Programs
AmeriCorps NCCC: Travel the country in a full-time role for 10 months working to advance communities, address community needs, and respond to disasters with a team.
AmeriCorps VISTA: VISTA is a full-time 11-12 month commitment to a certain project that targets low income communities and issues. Some issues include fighting illiteracy, improving health services, and fostering economic development.
AmeriCorps State & National:
Full-time 12 month commitment, and serve as AmeriCorps members in every state, U.S. territory, and on tribal reservations.
