Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy
The United States Department of Education requires post-secondary institutions that are receiving Title IV funds to establish standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. The concept of satisfactory progress mandates that both grade point average and the number of credits completed be monitored. In complying with this requirement, Cornell College has developed standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress cited under ``Academic Review.'' Furthermore, each full-time student can be enrolled for a maximum of 12 semesters to complete a baccalaureate degree. Continuing Education students can be enrolled for a maximum of 18 semesters to complete a baccalaureate degree.
If a student is ineligible for financial aid due to lack of satisfactory progress and feels that his or her case has exceptional or extenuating circumstances which caused this ineligibility, he or she may request within 10 days a review by the Academic Standing Committee in consultation with the Director of Financial Assistance.
