Cooperative Program in Business Administration

Cornell students have the opportunity to apply for accelerated admission to the University of Iowa's College of Business and to reduce, through courses taken at Cornell, the number of hours required for the degree of Master of Business Administration. The program involves four years of study at Cornell leading to a baccalaureate degree. During the second semester of their junior year, students may apply for admission to the Graduate Program in Business at the University of Iowa. If accepted, they will be notified of their admission before the start of their senior year at Cornell. To apply, a student must take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) in January of her or his junior year and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. If the student has been accepted at the end of the junior year, final admission to the M.B.A. program is guaranteed provided that the student completes her or his Cornell degree program and maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all the courses taken during the junior and senior years.

Participants may reduce the amount of time required to earn the M.B.A. by completing the following courses at Cornell: Computer Science 131 (Computing Practice and Perspectives); Economics and Business 151 (Financial Accounting), 245 (Marketing Management), 301 (Intermediate Price Theory), 302 (Income, Employment, and Prices), 351 and 352 (Financial Management I and Financial Management Seminar); and Sociology 337 (Work and Organizations).

Students may also apply for admission during their senior year. In either case, the University reserves the right to grant admission according to its established guidelines. Program Advisor: Professor James Falconer-Stout.
