345. Political Economy of Brazil In-country study of Brazil, a newly industrializing country that is attempting to make the transition from authoritarian military rule to constitutional democracy. Prerequisite: POL 243 or permission of instructor. Alternate years; taught in Brazil. (Social Science) LOEBSACK
346. Political Economy of Developing Countries Political-economic systems of selected developing countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Normally the course will focus on Latin America. Discussions of independence movements, post-independence experiences of civilian rule, civil-military relations, and the evolving relationships between politics and economics in these countries.
