Readings from one or more authors such as Plato, Herodotus, Euripides, Menander, Plutarch, or Lucian. Prerequisite: GRE 102. Offered every third year.

327. The Greek Hero
Consideration of the Greek concept of heroism with attention to how performance, genre, gender, and social and cultural values shape the Greek view of the hero. 334. Ancient Greek Politics, Society, and Culture
Readings and discussion of original Greek texts that cast light on the history, politics, society, and culture of Greece and the ancient Mediterranean.
