Campaign for Cornell College

Cornell College’s Extraordinary Opportunities Campaign raised $105.8 million, the highest total ever for a national liberal arts college in Iowa. By participating in this five-year campaign to enhance the college's endowment and upgrade its facilities, over 8,000 alumni and friends helped Cornell offer one extraordinary opportunity after another:

  • In the classroom: Nurturing intellectual growth, creativity, and our students
  • On campus: A community with renovated facilities that encourage living and learning
  • Around the world: Hands-on learning, in sites around the globe

Their gifts are an investment in Cornell students, and, through these students, in a more enlightened and humane world.

Building the Thomas Commons

Building on the success of the Extraordinary Opportunities campaign, the college is re-envisioning The Commons renovation and expansion project. New plans will serve future generations with a dynamic state-of-the-art building that further differentiates Cornell from other liberal arts colleges.

King Chapel Renovations

Progress continues on a $2.5 million renovation of King Chapel. In 2010 the main roof was repaired and the slate tiles were replaced with lighter, more durable composite tiles. In 2011 the carpet was replaced. In 2012 a new elevator will be added. Future plans include replacing the roofs of each tower as well as further structural work to the Victorian gothic building.
