With a rich diet of plant juices, the leafhopper produces a sweet substance called honeydew. Sometimes forming a partnership with ants, the leaf hoppers trade their production of honeydew for a little ant protection. They are often pests of cotton and wine plantations.

With leafhoppers, people can make what is known as Bug Blox. With three simple ingredients; Boiling water, gelatin, and dry roasted leafhoppers.
