Some of these worker ants become food containers for the rest of the colony, while other worker ants would collect honeydew from scales of psyllids. Storing the regurgitated food in their abdomen causes it to eventually become distended.

Aborigines ate many different types of sweet insects. The natives would dig into the ground looking for the nests of honeypot ants.
