Adult Japanese beetles are 3/8-inch long metallic green beetles with copper-brown wing covers. Many types of bird feed on Japanese beetles when they are stil grubs hiding in the soil. The Japanese beetle spends ten months in the soil as a grub, feeding on the roots of living plants. The beetles live 30 to 45 days, activity is concentrated into 4-6 week peiord after which they begin to die. |
