The Fire ant is native to Brazil, Paraguay, Uraguay and Argentina. It was first noticed in the United States in1929 in Alabama. Fire ants have a stinger in their tail that is similar to that of a Bee(unlike Bees Fire ants can sting repeatedly). Fire ant stings cause a burning and itching sensation and causes a small bilster. Fire ants also invade the food(hay, stock feed and water ttroughs)of some animals. When an animals food is invaded by Fire ants it is unable to get to their food without being stung severly. this can lead starvation or dehydration. Fire ants also feed on seeds and can cause damage to plants ruining gardends.
