Some insects such as bees and wasps have small stingers at the rear of their bodies. Insects use these to defend themselves. If stung by one of these insects, a person may feel instant pain and experience swelling, redness and possible itching. Many times insects lose their stinger in the object that has been stung. Removing the stinger right away can prevent more venom from entering your system. Some people have allergic reactions to the venom in stings and should receive medical attention if stung.
