Japanese Lady Beetles have a reputation of biting, they don't really bite, but it kind of feels that way. The bitting sensation is caused by small spurs on the leg's of the Beetles. These small spurs prick the skin as the Beetle moves around trying to figureout if what it is on is a source of food.
