Z is for Zimmerman pine moth. The Zimmerman pine moth is not the most exciting insect of the mountains, altough some people are very interested in them. Infestations up in the mountains can be very bothersome, because they infest pine trees, and can kill limbs near the top of the tree. You can recognize an infestation of Zimmerman pine moths, by the sap masses near the crotch of the tree (which look like clusters of popcorn). |
