A
Xyelidae

X is for Xyelidae. Xyelids are small sawflies. They are very similar to wasps, and they fly as adults. The third antennal segment of a Xyelid is usually very long. The forewing has an in costal vein, and three marginal cells. It can be very hard to spot a Xyelid. They get their food source from the staminate cones of pine.

A picture of a Xyelidae for all to view.
