A
Oystershell Scale

O is for Oystershell Scale. An Oystershell Scale can often be found on a twig or limb on a maple or willow tree in the mountains of Colorado. They get the name Oystershell, because their body is shaped like an oyster. Their outer shell can be lifted to expose a batch of eggs. They often have a grayish color, and rarely get over a 1/8 of an inch long.
