Navel Orangeworms enjoy nuts of all kinds, but their favorite nut of all is the pistachio. What happens is a female lays her eggs in the pistachios shortly after the nut starts to open. When the larvae hatches he enters the nut and starts to eat away at the insides of it. There
are a few ways to get rid of Navel Orangewoms. One way of doing it is
to make sure to remove all the nuts from the trees. This will make it
so they don't have a place to stay for the winter. Another way of protecting
your pistachios is to use egg traps to keep the eggs from being laid on
the nuts. |
