Tarantula spiders are a delicacy among locals and apparently taste like prawns! The Thailand Zebra or Edible Tarantula is roasted over a fire to singe off its hairs. Tarantulas are also eaten by South American rain forest natives, especially females bearing eggs. The Piaroa tribe on the Amazon River hunts the Giant Tarantula. Tarantula spiders or mygalomorphs are generally larger and hairier
than other spiders. Their bites are not usually fatal to humans unless
the person has an allergic reaction. |
