K is for... Katydid

katydid
The katydid is popular for its song which sounds kind of like the name the very insect has picked up: 'katy-did'. Both the male and female of the katydid's sing and this is unusual. Normally the male sings while the female remains silent. The reason a katydid takes on the appearance of a leaf is so that predators will have difficulty finding the katydid.
