Inaugural Events

The Berry Center was launched in October 2006 with a keynote lecture by Nobel laureate Robert Solow, emeritus professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Berry Center’s inaugural year culminated on May 17, 2007, with an applied economics symposium featuring two distinguished young economists from the University of Chicago: Jesse Shapiro and Emily Oster.
