Amazing Edibles, Chicago, IL
During the summer of 2010, Nga Dinh '12 found herself in Chicago working as an intern at Amazing Edibles, a catering company founded and run my alumna Andrea Hererra '85. She was responsible for contributing articles to the Amazing Edibles monthly newsletter, and spent a good deal of time working on a marketing analysis of art galleries in downtown Chicago in order to choose locations that Amazing Edibles can target as new customers.
Nga says, "In my opinion, the best part about my internship is being able to apply what I have learnt at Cornell to a real life project. I find many classes I took at Cornell extremely helpful. The international marketing course I took with Professor Laurel Anderson on 9th block was one of them. I learned how to implement a marketing project from step to step, what resources to look at and how to make a strategic decision. Another course I find very helpful, interestingly, is not an economics class but my Modern Art class. The information I have gained from the class gave me confidence and creative ideas to work with a target market of art galleries. I really appreciate Cornell's liberal art education, which provided me not only a deep understanding of my major field but also a wide spectrum of knowledge that can be applied in everyday situations."
