Kelsey Gorman '11

Kelsey Gorman '11 spent the summer of 2010 as a Human Resources intern at Van Meter Industrial in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was charged with assisting the Human Resources department to complete various projects, including researching pre-employment exams, reorganizing the HR filing system, and doing an I-9 audit.

Kelsey says, "I have learned aspects of the working world that a textbook could not teach. The business world is vastly different than sitting in a classroom or studying for a test. Teamwork is about collaboration rather than just doing your share of the divided work individually. The schedule is always changing, and you have to be prepared to for what each day may bring."
