In February of 2009, Matt Smith interned at Amazing Edibles in Chicago, IL.  Smith was a marketing intern for the small catering company.  His responsibilities included creating email campaigns for two client lists and a direct mail postcard for current and potential clients.  Additionally, he researched and contacted prospective clients.

Says Smith, "Cornell has a great Economics department -- I took managerial accounting and a topics course on entrepreneurship that prepared me well for this internship. This internship taught me many things about not only advertising, but also small business. I learned first hand that marketing and advertising are a very important part of business: without marketing no one would ever know that you existed. I also learned that one of the best things a company can do in a time of recession is to market themselves."

"This internship has already opened some doors for me. I have acquired new knowledge about marketing and gained a greater confidence for working in the business world. After I graduate I hope to work in advertising or marketing. The internship with Amazing Edibles has sparked my interest in marketing."
