Summer 2009

During the summer of 2009, Kyle Davy served as an intern with the Greater Cedar Rapids Open golf tournament in Cedar Rapids, IA. His duties included functioning as a liaison with donor companies, preparing publications for players and staffing the tournament. By the time the tournament rolled around, he became the graphic designer for many of the event. He created raffle tickets, restaurant table tents, posters, signs, programs, and food and beverage coupons.

Says Davy, "Working for the GCRO proved to be more than just an internship about the logistics and organization of a professional golf tournament. It was an internship that will be valuable to me as my life and career paths continue to unfold. I was allowed to not only look into the world of sports management, but also to understand and interact in a professional environment in any field. The GCRO committee members were all volunteers, thus they came from a variety of professional backgrounds. There was a dentist, a financial advisor, a realtor, an investment banker, etc. that all worked together. It was an awesome experience to learn how to work together as a group, but it was an even better experience because I got to network with professionals from across Cedar Rapids."
