In the fall of 2008, Emily Burnham interned at the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission in Cedar Rapids, IA.  Burnham was able to observe almost every step of the Civil Rights complaint process by working directly with two investigators as they tackled the task of ensuring civil rights to Cedar Rapidians.  She now understands "who is able to file a complaint with the Commission and what happens within the Commission after the complaint has been filed."
