Diamondback Equipment Sales, Las Vegas, NV
(Summer 2008)
Kait Wiszt spent the summer of 2008 as an intern at Diamondback Equipment Sales in Las Vegas, Nevada. The firm is a manufacturer's representative for commercial based heating and cooling. As part of her duties, she worked in the financial department upgrading their accounts payable and receivable into a new software program. A double major in Economics and Business and Art, Wiszt synthesized her passion for creative arts and business by working with the marketing department and information technology department to design and create the company's new website. She used her design skills to create Power Point presentations for use by sales associates and to create logos for installations.
Wiszt credits her "education both in the classroom and through lectures, organizations, and activities at Cornell" for preparing her for this internship. She says, "My non-classroom experiences provided me with confidence in my interactions with other professionals, from my handshake, to my attire. I can specifically thank the Berry Center and programs they have hosted, such as the etiquette dinner, for this."
Says Wiszt, " It was very rewarding to take classroom theory and apply it to real situations and practices."
