The ECB 266: International Marketing welcomed course Distinguished Visitor Mark Kujawa, the Vice President of International Business Development at Diamond V Mills, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His responsibilities at Diamond V, Inc. include developing, growing, and managing a global business model outside North America, creating a growth environment for more than 40 global independent distributors, developing effective sales and marketing programs with company global business managers of wholly-owned subsidiaries in China, Mexico, and Europe and managing company brands outside North America.

While on campus, Kujawa discussed some basic international marketing concepts, including an overview of issues relevant to international marketing, particularly stressing the cultural aspects and emphases. He used many examples that presented vivid illustrations of his advice re international marketing. His focus was on how to gain a cultural understanding of a country with which you are engaging in business. He stressed the time that it takes hire local talent and suggested which activities and decisions to maintain at the corporate office instead of the global branch.

Kujawa holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Colorado State University with concentration in World Agriculture in the Department of Animal Sciences.
