
Louis Cain
While in Chicago on September 9, 2009, Professor Santhi Hejeebu's ECB 254: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in U.S. Economic History was joined for a lunchtime lecture by economic historian Louis Cain. Cain is Professor of Economics at Loyola University Chicago, Adjunct Professor of Economics at Northwestern University, and Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He shared expertise on the economic history of Chicago, focusing on transportation at the time that the Pullman Railroad company was operating.
Cain, along with Jonathan Hughes, has authored American Economic History, now in its eighth edition. His recent article, "Chicago Made: Factory Networks in the Industrial Metropolis," was published in the Journal of Economic History (2009). He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Economics.
