Brachova sets school mark for career doubles wins with 79

Ram review - Cornell senior Pavla Brachova (Ames/Ames) became the school's all-time leader in doubles wins Saturday as the Rams posted dual victories over Westminster (6-3) and Wartburg (8-1) in Mount Vernon.
Brachova collected her 78th and 79th career doubles wins, moving her past 2006 graduate Marie Schutte (77 wins) for first place on Cornell's all-time list for doubles victories. Brachova and junior Caryl Abeyta (Eaton, Colo./Eaton) went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, scoring an 8-2 win over Wartburg and prevailing 8-6 against Westminster.
Brachova, Abeyta and freshman Devin Harmon (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora) also finished 2-0 in singles competition. With those two victories, Brachova climbed into third place on Cornell's career list for singles wins with 62. She also ranks third in total wins for a career with 141, trailing only Schutte (144) and Emily Loewen (147).
Brachova raised her season record to 17-4 in singles play. She is 20-3 in doubles matches, including a 17-2 mark with freshman Kirsten Lasley (St. Paul, Minn./Saddlebrook).
The Rams won all six doubles matches over the weekend. Lasley and Kendall Bielinski (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) were perfect at No. 2 doubles along with Harmon and Amanda Johnson (North Branch, Minn./North Branch at No. 3.
Cornell improved its season record to 16-7, including an 8-2 mark in home duals.
