MOUNT VERNON — Cornell junior Griffin LaDew (Pewaukee, Wis.) has been named the Iowa Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9.

LaDew averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in two games during the week. The 6-foot-2 guard posted a season-high 27 points and dished out five assists in Cornell’s 82-81 home win Dec. 5 over Mount Mercy. LaDew drained 7-of-9 3-point goals against the Mustangs, one shy of the school’s single-game record.

LaDew scored 22 points behind 9-of-15 shooting in the Rams’ 70-66 home loss Dec. 9 to Clarke. He made his first eight shots in the game and finished with four 3-pointers.

LaDew leads the Rams in scoring (13.3 ppg), steals (11), and assists (20) this season. He is shooting 49.2 percent (30-of-61) from the field and 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from 3-point range.

The Rams (3-3) travel to play 10 th-ranked Augustana at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in Rock Island, Ill.

LaDew, a 2005 graduate of Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School, is the son of Jayne and James LaDew, Pewaukee, Wis.
