Men's Basketball News ReleasesAccess the News Release archive MOUNT VERNON — Cornell’s Griffin LaDew (Pewaukee, Wis.) has been named the Iowa Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player and Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 6. It was the second time this season in which LaDew made seven 3-pointers in a game. The school’s single-game record for 3-pointers is eight, shared by Jeff Ecker (Dec. 6, 2004 vs. The Franciscan University) and Chris Heller (1992 vs. Dubuque). LaDew has notched four 20-point games this season and is shooting 42.9 percent (36-of-84) from long range. He leads the Iowa Conference in made 3-point goals and ranks fourth in scoring (16.8 ppg). LaDew is 15-of-15 from the foul line and shooting 50.4 percent from the field. LaDew was also named IIAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9. The Rams (4-7 overall, 2-0 IIAC) have equaled their best start in IIAC play since joining the league in 1997-98. Cornell hosts Simpson at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 and visits Loras at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. LaDew, a 2005 graduate of Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School, is the son of Jayne and James LaDew, Pewaukee, Wis.
