Henderson takes singles win in dual with Monmouth

Ram Review – Cornell (1-5 overall, 1-2 Iowa Conference) dropped an 8-1 decision to nonconference foe Monmouth March 1 in Monmouth, Ill.
Junior Bryan Henderson (Coleraine, North Ireland/Coleraine) picked up the Rams’ lone win at No. 1 singles. He rallied past Kyle Korb for a 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory in his first match of the season at the No. 1 singles position.
Cornell sophomore Jay Welvaert (Moline, Ill./Moline) battled in a three-set loss at No. 2 singles, falling 7-6, 5-7, 4-10. Freshman Corey Dieser (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea), a member of Cornell’s basketball team, made his collegiate debut at No. 4 singles.
