Rams rally for 5-4 home win over Principia

Ram review - Cornell stepped up in singles play to record a 5-4 victory over Principia in the second of two duals Saturday in Mount Vernon. The Rams fell 7-2 to Central in an Iowa Conference match earlier in the day.

Cornell (3-11 overall, 1-3 IIAC) battled back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles competition against Principia. The Rams finished strong, taking four of the six singles matches. Cornell received singles wins from Neal Klauer (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) at No. 3, Brandon Wolff (Keokuk/Keokuk) at No. 4, Courtland Olson (Afton, Minn./Woodbury) at No. 5 and Ryan Walden (Edina, Minn./Edina) at No. 6. Klauer rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 victory.

Wolff and Walden finished 2-0 at No. 3 doubles. The tandem took an 8-1 victory over Principia and fought past Central, 8-6. Cornell's No. 2 team of Klauer and Olson also prevailed against Central, 8-6.
