Rams take 7-2 victory over Northwestern
Coming up - Saturday, March 7, at Mount Vernon, vs. Central, 9 a.m., vs. Principia, 3 p.m.
Ram review - Cornell wrapped up a two-day trip in St. Paul, Minn., with a 7-2 victory over Northwestern Saturday afternoon. The Rams fell 9-0 to Macalester earlier on Saturday and dropped a 7-2 decision to Hamline on Friday.
Senior Courtland Olson (Afton, Minn./Woodbury), juniors Brandon Wolff (Keokuk/Keokuk) and Ryan Walden (Edina, Minn./Edina) and freshman Neal Klauer (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) all recorded two wins against Northwestern. Freshman Kris Andresen (Katy, Texas/Taylor) also was victorious at No. 1 singles in the Northwestern dual.
Cornell (2-10 overall, 1-2 Iowa Conference) took five of the six singles matches against Northwestern and prevailed at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Junior John Mineck (Cedar Rapids/Kennedy) and Walden picked up Cornell's lone two wins against Hamline. Mineck prevailed in three sets at No. 2 singles. Walden won in straight sets at No. 6 singles.
The Rams host a double dual in each of the next two weekends. Cornell meets IIAC foe Central and Principia Saturday, March 7. The Rams then take on Westminster and IIAC foe Wartburg on March 14.
