Rams score 6-3 dual win over Loras

Ram review - Cornell picked up its first dual win of the 2008-09 season with a 6-3 Iowa Conference triumph over Loras Friday at Decorah. The Rams finished their weekend in Decorah Saturday with losses to perennial IIAC power Luther (9-0) and UW-Eau Claire (8-1).
The Rams (1-8 overall, 1-2 IIAC) are idle this week and resume play Feb. 27-28 with three nonconference duals in St. Paul, Minn.
Junior Brandon Wolff (Keokuk/Keokuk) was part of three of Cornell's seven wins over the weekend. He and John Mineck (Cedar Rapids/Kennedy) finished 2-1 at No. 2 doubles. The Cornell tandem pulled out a 9-8 victory over UW-Eau Claire and also took a tight 8-6 decision over Loras.
The Rams won four of the six singles matches against Loras. No. 3 Wolff, No. 5 Ryan Walden (Edina, Min./Edina) and No. 6 Simon MacKenzie (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnehaha) all prevailed in three sets in singles play, highlighted with Walden's 2-6, 6-1, 13-11 comeback win. Courtland Olson (Afton, Minn./Woodbury) surrendered only one game in his win at No. 4 singles.
Cornell's No. 1 doubles team of Neal Klauer (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) and Olson beat Loras, 8-4.
